Prayer of the Dying - Structures of a Dying Matter
Prayer of the Dying
Structures of a Dying Matter
Track-By-Track

Intro - A minute and twenty seconds of keys and celloish sounds. Cool.

Castle of Solitude - Starts off kicking you in the face with some black metal attitude. Pretty cool solo at 2:40. Ends as a mid-paced speed with cool cymbal/gong crash.

Abomination - Starts slow, goes into mid-paced black metal. Really nice atmosphere from the keys/vocals/drums interacting. It seems like the guitars take a bit of a back seat role in this track, which I like.
Clean guitar chords over a drone starts happening at 2:30. Very nice tone.
Goes back to where it started, with a more guitar-involved sound to the end. Really good song.

Deformed Creatures - My favorite track on the album it's got a little more death to it, dual vocals, and a catchy as hell chorus. A bit faster than the others before it, too, and the guitar sounds change pretty drastically in it, which is really cool.

Fragments of a wrecked world - A bigger sound in comparison to the previous tracks, more like a movie soundtrack in the drum rolls at the start, with violin sounding keys and clean guitar.
Crashes into a more symphonic sounding black metal with a great scream at 1:20. Vocals throughout are deeper, slower, more death inflected, and the music is more doomier. One of the best on the album.

Delerium - Blackened death with nice keys/guitar interplay, very atmpospheric. Heavy as hell too, great headbanger. Backing vocals are super cool too. My second favorite song on the album.

Nocturnal Birds - Instrumental, sounds like the final scene of a great horror movie's soundtrack, and it's credits. Awesome track.

Disturbing the Souls - Living up to it's name, "Disturbing the Souls" starts as a faster black metal track, with unsettling keyboard chord structures. It slows down somewhat with a spaced out guitar lead, and creepy alien voices. It's a bit short, just under the three minute mark, but it's really good. Goes in, makes it's point, leaves quick.

Impregnable Fortress - A nice surprise at the start: a sample of some guy saying that some churches have degenerated into "Synagogues of Satan". Very much a blackened death, with really good riffage. Background vocals are pained screams and sound great. It's not as atmospheric as some of the others, but it's still a really good track.

Funeral Macabre - A nice instrumental. I just wish it were longer.

Life Less - The final track takes us into a more atmospheric approach again. The vocals are deep and haunting. Really good.
