Genres: Blackened Death Metal
Mixing several musical elements, Malta's Prayer of the Dying create what is essentially a black metal album with a dark, gothic undertone.
Death metal and symphonic black are presented wonderfully, and almost the whole record is covered thick with atmosphere. Fans of more well known symphonic black metal bands Dimmu Borgir and Naglfar and blackened death bands Behemoth and Belphegor should check this album out.
Standout tracks are "Deformed Creatures", "Delirium", and "Disturbing the Souls". Definately recommended, Structures of a Dying Matter gets 7.5 out of 10. Some would probably say the genre jumping at times is jarring or limiting, but I think it's great. One thing I would have done personally is change the song order in the tracklist. But, that's me.
